Flea Market Finds

School holidays have arrived! Let's just say that no one loves an 11 week term.

Yesterday I placed my lineny purchases on the dining room table, and within 10 minutes Lucy had discovered them - she is one clever kitty.

I am picturing the lovely peachy-pink woolen blanket as the back of a vintage sheet quilt - instead of the typical quilt batting and backing sheet option. Have you ever made a quilt in this manner? Can it be done?

I also snaffled this pretty mustard colour linen - I am love with those three tiny crochet flowers.

... and hello $1 slice, biscuit, cake tray!

See more finds over at Sopie's :)

  1. I have often used blankets, knit, crochet and woven inside quilts but not as the only layer. It could easily be done but you might find the blanket would pull when trying to feed it through for quilting. Alternatively, you could tioe it or just leave it unquilted with connections only on the edges. Either way, the quilty should be lovely and warm. Cherrie

  2. I'm not a quilter but I'm sure that idea would work. I've never been able to find a blanket at the oppy in such a lovely shade of pink..very jealous!

  3. Gorgeous blanket! What a great idea for it too! Ive never tried it although I have used chenille bedspreads in the same manner with great success!

  6. Yes! you can do that. I've seen it down by a long-armed quilter. It's a good idea. I'm thinking of doing it myself. Especially as I put a quilt with wool batting in the clothes drier accidently and SHRUNK IT SO TINY, bother, at least with a blanket on the back you know it's there!!!

  7. Looks like you have had a bit of a floral theme going on! The blanket is a gorgeous colour and will be great as a quilt back. Have fun!

  9. Lovely florals! I don't see why a blanket wouldn't work as a quilt back. My mum uses wool blankets as the batting. I plan to use a chenille bedspread as a quilt backing.
