Flea Market Finds
Found these necklaces, each with the name or initial of Ursula, huddled together at an oppie recently. So I did a little research on the name and discovered it was most popular from the 1880's to 1940s. I found myself wondering about this woman and her interesting name...
Who was she?
Did Ursula own horses or was she just a horse lover?
Who gave her each piece?
Did she get rid of all her named jewelery soon after she changed her name by dpoll because she was embarrassed at constant references to the overweight octopus sea-witch in The Little Mermaid?
Head over to Sophies for more finds!
ps Sorry if your name is Ursula hehe xx

I love the idea of "who was Ursula", I like to dream about the past owner of my finds also. What wonderful finds.
ReplyDeleteThank you for wandering by my blog, now I can visit yours, which is lovely.
How interesting! I too would have to have purchased them. Now i'll be wondering who the mystery Ursula is/was...
ReplyDeleteVery unusual! Funnily enough a good friend of mine has a little Ursula. And my teacher in primary school was called Ursula! Howza bout that!
ReplyDeleteSad in a way ... but nice to know it's gone to a good home.

ReplyDeletehow interesting! i know an Ursula who is in her mid 20s and btw she owns a horse..spooky!
ReplyDeleteyour mind!
ReplyDeletebut i sometimes wonder when things with names on it turn up. there's always been a life before, to someone else. it is part of the attraction for me though.
it also means that our own name might turn up in an oppie one day? ;)
Love Ursula's collection. It is one of my favourite names but does remind me of the twin from Friends (Phoebe's)
ReplyDeleteThat is just not a common name here in the U.S. How amazing to find a whole batch of stuff that's been brought in!
ReplyDeleteThat made me giggle! I always viewed an Ursula as a tall athletic Swedish person until the little mermaid ruined that! The little bracelet is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love these little op-shop mysteries - brings out the miss marple in me too :)
ReplyDeleteMy ex boss was named Ursula, she races hot rods on the weekend, is a vegetarian and is German : )
